Since the original question is not model specific I'd like to clear a few things up.

AFAIK:

1) All current Honda hybrids have a true ICE powered reverse gear.

2) No HSD equipped vehicles from Toyota or Ford have a reverse gear. They all back up on electric motor power alone.

3) I suspect that the GM 2-mode lacks a true reverse gear.

I was refering to Tahoe hybrid in the origional question, any feedback on that

tahoe, yukon and escalade are only built one place in the US side by side in the factory in texas

 

never had a problem in reverse even with a 6000 lb trailer
