New hybrid battery

New hybrid battery
Today I called the three local GM dealerships to get a price on the battery. I was told 84442216 is no longer the correct part number for the unit. It has been changed to 84629371 and the warehouse doesn't have stock, doesn't show a price, and doesn't have a date as to when they would have it in stock. I wanted to at least get a good price check on this thing and weigh my options of rebuilding the pack, buying a used pack, or getting a new pack that I can put another 200k miles on.
I called GM customer service and asked them for any information on availability and after a 25 minute hold, I was told they would get back to me in two days. Just frustrated with the support that GM put into these trucks. This system could have done more to lower fuel consumption in the US than the tiny hybrids out there ever would.

Re: New hybrid battery
Just got off the phone with GM customer service and was told that GM has discontinued the battery and that they do not have to keep parts available for vehicles over 10 years of age. They did however tell me there was a new old stock battery in Atlanta.

Re: New hybrid battery
Given that they use the same battery as the 2012MY, they're full of ****. They're still required to keep parts available for that MY.
If it's truly NOS that's been sitting for years, pass unless they give you a huge discount. If it's less than a year old based on the SN of the modules, it's probably fine.

Re: New hybrid battery
Buy two 2016+ Prius C units with less than 30K miles. Period. Check voltages. Each pack will be within 0.02V and they should be within 0.05 between packs. Build. Done.
If you want to literally add 60-80 hours of laborious/tedious testing, then I'll entertain the question, but I'd really rather not.
Better to build the battery and do a Torque test.

Re: New hybrid battery
they built them to 2013 model year was the last year that means WARRANTY for California models will be tell 2024(assuming one was bought in 2014 ) (unless GM directed the dealers to punch the warranty on 12/31/2013)
that means they will still need to keep some on hand tell 2025 or 26( if someone buys a new stand alone battery in 2023).
Tell them you live in a C.A.R.B.state
tell you got a 2013 and you need a new battery it has 200,000 miles on it and you demand to buy a new battery for your 7 year old SUV be sure to have a vin on hand might need it
tell them you have smog testing and you have check engine light for new battery and it failed smog test(more then likely they will not check that) other wise you will file a complaint with CARB and federal
