Hybrid owners jet/warbird thread

Re: Hybrid owners jet/warbird thread
Boy, do I have airplane envy. My big dream is to build and own an RV-10 someday.
BTW, to tie this back to GM things, Bob Lutz has been known to fly his L-39 and Alpha Jet over the proving ground in SE Michigan. He sold the Alpha Jet, though. The economy hits even him!

So many of the guys I work with have RV's, having put in countless hours building them. Several of them are nicer than any production airplane would ever be. And KC135R, one of them is a RV-10. Great family transportation, the only thing it is lacking is a second engine!

Re: Hybrid owners jet/warbird thread
TX,
I heard there was a big RV contingent in Texas. My brother lives in Houston, and his neighbor is an airline pilot with an RV-6 boxed up in his garage. That's where I first heard about them. Trouble is it's an older kit before Van's started doing the pre-drilled hole thing.
Yeah, some of the panels and features the VAF guys put into their planes are amazing.
I don't even want to consider the operating and 2000 hr overhaul costs for a twin...
I'm looking at Arrows, Dakotas, or an RV, primarily.

Re: Hybrid owners jet/warbird thread
I have had an undying love for the Cozy MKIII/IV but the practical bone in my body wouldn't let me go that way. But I love the numbers and long range comfort/quietness...just hard to overcome the negatives. Numbers on the RV's are good, it is just noisy and not nearly as comfortable. But it is a stout, well designed a/c. I like them, I just can't justify owning an airplane. Maybe someday.
