Hmm. What a surprise, as was famously stated.

3.22/g out here on the Left Coast in not so sunny Long Beach, CA.

I don't think we'll see those hybrids selling below MSRP.

Something else we wont see is the US automakers giving in on the idea that their progeny (SUV's, etc) are responsible.

So. What I'm doing about it? Funny you should ask.

I'm going to drive a couple thousand miles to find cheaper gas.

Yea - even back to my birthplace. . . Chicago.

I am seeing gas in Houston between 2.65 and 2.80.

It makes no difference to these people though, I still get blown off the road by the gas hogs every morning. I actually enjoy filling up my 12.3 gallons around every two weeks, especially since I drive 70 miles round trip everyday. I especially enjoy pulling up behind a large SUV that has already started filling their tank, patiently leaning up against their vehicle waiting and waiting.... Then I fill my car up and leave before they finish filling their tank. Makes me smile every time.

When my windows needed cleaning, I've been tempted to just clean my windows and not even buy gas. If someone with a large vehicle nearby was filling up, it'd be a bit more amusing.

About 89 pence per litre, so around £3.60 a gallon. I STILL don't understand why gas is so expensive in England!

Don't a high percentage of your gas taxes go to pay for socialized medicine and Gov't assistance, unlike in the US.

Don't feel bad... our news media always forgets that as well when they try and tell us how good we have it....

In the States, fuel conservation is anethma. As a result, our gasoline tax is relatively less than what you and the rest of the world (excepting Iran, Venezuela(?) is paying. I believe your gov't considers the way to force conservation is to boost the tax on your petrol.

We've tried that that and it almost led to a second revolution. We deserve low taxes and all the gas we can get, beg borrow or steal.

Other devices your gov't uses is building more and better bicycle routes.

Over here, we still think when you're 16, you get your driver's license and chuck your bike, dammit.

Besides all that, you guys drive on the wrong side of the road.

We're paying 3.22/g in California (Los Angeles area) which is about 1.63 in your pound sterling/g. Do the conversion to get it into the metric vol.

Man it all makes sense now....mind you, I'm actually American, so when I first saw the gas prices here I was viewing them with an 'they're charging HOW much???' perspective. But if they're actually doing it for a good purpose, then they can charge whatever they want!

Now you've got it. Your taxes pay for your medical benefits, while ours pay for supporting an army which will go out to

Well, better not go there.
