Temperature Read outs

Re: Temperature Read outs
I just bought one of those autodim, UV, Temp and Compass mirrors from the Ebay. The instruction manual says I need a switched (goes live when the car is on) and unswitched (always on) battery power. On my MMH I already have a auto dim mirror, I believe it is a switched power source. Where can I tap in for a unswitched one. Oh also it says disconnet the negative battery terminal, is it because they are being careful in the manual or can I install the system without doing that. I don't want to reset everything...
Thanks

The auto-dimmer is much faster than my '96 Jeep's.
How do you all find the VFD/LCD readout on the mirror? Is it visible enough in daylight when you have sunglasses on? I wonder if a separate display for temp/compass info is better on this Exon Mirror compared to the readout superimposed on the Gentex mirrors.
I can't decide which one to get without seeing them in real life!

A separate question: has anyone here paid for an auto-dim Gentex mirror with compass/temp AND "homelink"?
I searched eBay but I can't anybody selling those homelink mirrors, maybe because they are too expensive?

Re: Temperature Read outs
I bought a dimming mirror off eBay for my 07 FEH. Before I break my windshield, does anyone have a tip for how to get off the old mirror? I know from research on the web that there is a clip on the bottom that needs to be released and that there is a special Ford tool to release it. I was not able to find an illustration of the catch assembly, so I'm not sure exactly how to pry it to release it using a flat bit screwdriver.
Thanks in advance.

It is really scary the first time you do it as it seems like the windshield will break before it releases, but I have done quite a few & never had a problem.

Re: Temperature Read outs
John was right, there is no positive lock to the rear view mirror attachment. It is held on by the friction of the spring metal band that semi-circles the lower part of the mirror attachment pad. I used a screwdriver to pry rearward and upward at the same time and it slipped off. The glass flexes as you do this, that is the unsettling part.
