I have a 2004 Nav Set ( that came with the 2005 car ) and I have a 2005 Nav Set ( that came with the 2006 car ) and BOTH work interchangeably.

I can pop in either version with no ill effects. I have not tried using two versions on the same key cycle, but who would need to?

I'm not sure which it is, copyright protection or different versions of the software. You can certainly see why diffferent versions would give it fits though.

BTW, while researching a response to a Toyota Camry Hybrid Nav-related question and posting it, I thought this should be posted here for FEH owners:

If you experience any map data discrepancies (missing roads, lanes, points of interest, etc.) or routing errors (poor or bad routing), these should be reported via Navteq's feedback form. Navteq is responsible for the map data (CDs) our FEH units rely on.

It may seem to be a hassle, but I routinely report discrepancies or routing issues to Garmin for all my portable Garmin GPS units (used for bicycling, hiking/geocaching, vehicles, etc.) It's in the category of "They can't fix what they don't know about..."

Enjoy!

Hi All -

I have, like John, two different sets of disk and have interchanged them with no problem.

Case in point. I live in the Atlanta area and travel to FL quite a bit. Well on set #1 there is a disk with AL, GA, SC & FL all on the same disk. The newer set put FL on a totally separate disk. The last trip I made to FL I wanted to put the exact address of where we were staying, but to do this with the new set I had to pop in the FL disk to get that Info. When I had set #2 (FL only) in, it would come up and tell me something like ‘incomplete data’ – in other words it didn’t have my home address data on that disk. I popped the old disk in and it worked!! When I did get to the FL state line I popped the FL disk in to have the latest POIs etc.

Yeah – it can be confusing and a hassle – and Ford will probably (hopefully) move to a DVD or HD system.

I also agree with Shannon about sending NAVTEQ any discrepancies in the data. If you notice a change, addition, alteration in roads or POIs. In one case ‘The road was no longer there’ the other – dang that shopping center had been bulldozed!! They are supposed to have teams out checking these things but there are a lot more of us.

Shannon and Rich - we are getting more positives on the first page - Yeah!!
