Nav vs Non-Nav Panel comparison

Nav vs Non-Nav Panel comparison
I really like the nav option, but it does change the shape and natural flowing contour of the std. dash. What do you think?

Re: Nav vs Non-Nav Panel comparison
I wish you had taken both photos from the same angle at the same distance.
The way you photographed the Nav model is unflatering. The lower vantage point
makes the instrument openings in front of the driver, which are the same in both
models, look like big black gaping holes on the Navi model.

Well you did ask for (Opinions) right? Most definitely the HCH ll with the
Nav. , it reminds me of the Acura Line of vehicles and they are
most assuredly "High-Tech" looking in looks and performance. Go Nav.
Always Nav.

I agree with you and you get what you pay for.

Re: Nav vs Non-Nav Panel comparison
As someone who currently has the Honda/Alpine Navi in an Accord, I will say that I will not be getting the Navi in the Civic Hybrid, should I finalize the purchase.
The system is useful for finding one's way home, to a new destination, etc.
The voice recognition is good for safety, for those times where you can't / don't want to take your eyes off the road.
However, I don't use the actual Navigation very much - most of my driving is in my local metro area.
What I do use it for is:
- To switch settings on the HVAC (and I hate having to do this)
- To practice my FE techniques with the Trip Computer (and the Civic's Navi does NOT have this applet)
- To see the artist / title when something interesting is on XM.
- To show off when I have a new passenger in the car (big whoop)
Given that I can do an outboard XM, an aftermarket Navi, and the Civic's auto climate control isn't solely controlled through the touchscreen, I think I'll pass this time around.
It's a very good system. I just don't use it to its full benefit, and without the Trip Computer, it's not much more than a toy for me, as another poster stated in a different thread. Were the TC to be there, however, I'd give it more serious consideration.
Back on-topic - Call me crazy, but I actually like the plastic panels better on the Navi-equipped car, vs the non-Navi car. I don't like the touchscreen's location, or its control layout in this version, nor its motorized flip gimmick every time I want to change CDs, mind you. Just the lines / flow of the plastic surround in the dash, given the two pics above. Note how there are more 'seams' in the top dash of the non-Navi car.
