I think I found the prob with NAV system

Re: I think I found the prob with NAV system
?? I kinda love my nav system, but then I haven't seen many others. How much would an aftermarket nav cost? Are there features lacking in the factory model that are easily available aftermarket...?

Re: I think I found the prob with NAV system
I "LIKE" not love my nav,it performs exactly like it's supposed to in all the places I've used it.City,Suburb & Rural. Once in a while it looses it's place on a map but always resets itself fast.Replacing it will get you a larger touch screen but the functionality is basically the same less some convience of not needing discs, more recent info and a more dynamic look and a better quality stereo,DVD.Look to spend atleast a grand on a good unit with pro install and remember your Energy screens will be lost! I won't do it, but plenty of disgruntled owners on this site have.

Even when I had the screens I didn't use them. The last straw for me was the poor routing.
What I gained:
XM Real Traffic - on the NAV screen I can avoid traffic problems
XM Radio - USING the Radio Display
Weather - With XM Traffic and weather I get the weather forcast for where I am at, along with current conditions. I can also check other areas.
Garmin TourGuide - I can put in a SD card with a TourGuide and when I am near a point of interest, it will play an MP3 file.
Points of Interest - I can put in custom points of interest, including red light cameras, and it will warn me if I set it to do so.
Backup Cam - Now I can see right behind me
DVD - While waiting in the car, I can watch a movie
Ipod - My ipod works seemlessly with the headunit, including playing ipod video.
Dual Zone - I can listen to one source, while the kids listen to something else.
I also can add:
Sirius Radio (incase there isn't anything on the XM)
HD Radio
TV Receiver
Any of the newer Kenwood CD changers (and they support CD Text)
So, what did I lose again?

The hybrid energy screens. Pay attention. (kidding! )
Sounds like an awesome setup! Mine came with no nav, so I outfit it with an Alpine/Sirius/ipod which works great, but I have a very young child at home and I always back in the garage... so I'm thinking I might need to get an integrated unit with a backup camera. Your list of cool features sure has that hamster wheel in my head turning...

I took out the factory NAV two weeks after I got my 06 (I don't miss it one little bit) & replaced it with an Eclipse 5510 with Sirius & backup camera.

I bought the BU camera off ebay, it has 30 infrared LED's that light up the road in total darkness. I have my windows tinted really dark, so it is great for backing up & lights up the road behind me like daylight in total darkness for about 50 feet.

Mine sure as heck didn't. There are $200 NAV units available that work better.
