Looks like a free NAV DVD update for 5.1 users.
See attached.

I have no idea but my guess is it's only a software upgrade and the database stays at 5.1. I could be wrong.

Hmmm...

3. Cut the original navigation map disc in half and dispose of it.

I will offer my services for the cutting and disposing of the old DVDs..

Great information. Where can I find the dealer code?

This is a warranty item. It's ordered by a dealer and they supply the code at order time. I doubt (but could be wrong) if Toyota would send one directly to an end user.

Yea, the whole thing is a wolf in sheep's clothing. Everyone will get the update, they chop up the old DVD and you're left with a system with no "override" capability. Pretty smart those Toyota folks.
Make a copy of that old (DL DVD) first.

we are a paranoid bunch aren't we (me included!) - a good amount of us are willing to live with non-updated maps for the override (nobody has yet found the new one on 6.X???), and I think we will hold off on this as well till someone has the guts to try, and report that the override still works...

Man. jk110 took the words out of my mouth. Although it would be cool to see a newer version of the Nav software, I am soooo dependent on the screen lock override. Also, I really haven't had too many problems with the 5.1 mapping in my area. At this point, I would only upgrade if someone finds out if there is an override with the newer and mysterious v6.x, that apparently some dealers are denying exists.

Anybody have a good friend at Toyota Corp? ;-)
