I own a 2009 FEH with 131k - great vehicle. One issue I have is the gas filler flap intermittently sticks. When trying to put gas in the tank the flap won't open no matter how many times I put the fuel nozzle in. So I continued driving and 10-15 minutes later pulled into another gas station and the flap opened this time. This happened once or twice before 5 years ago.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Does anyone know what causes this and how to fix it?

If it were my vehicle, I would probably lubricate the mechanism with Lucas UCL and fuel system treatment which I already use to bump up fuel efficency.
