Get the code from the brake system. My code was air in the brakes, uneven pressure. Diagnosing by changing parts is a bad way to fix it.

Not too familiar on the Escape in other areas, but the Engine/Hybrid was designed by Toyota, it is very reliable. Used in the Fusion hybrids as well. As long as it seem

Not entirely correct. They licensed Toyota patented technology to design their own. Toyota engineers had no hand in the design of the Ford system.

If the A/C doesn't work and it is hot it will always run on petrol because it can't cool the battery. Pull the list of codes from the car and post it.

FEH 2005-2009 had a separate A/C evaporator assembly to cool the battery. 2010-2012 do not. If your cabin AC is not functioning (you should see vent temperatures in the mid-40s F at least) the cabin AC cannot cool down the battery and the computer will not allow it to work when the battery is over temp. 100 degrees F or more and you're basically screwed.

This happened partially as a result of the 2008 financial crisis in the United States. Ford deleted the most important component in the battery cooling system to save some manufacturing money. They also wanted to kill the platform off because they were planning the beautiful new 2013-2000 Escapes, which are gigantic pieces of horse excrement from a Eurodesign engineering and maintenance point of view.

Your battery may "bounce back" but the A/C has to work 100% and the battery cooling system has to work 100% or you are pounding salt.

It's an Aisin transaxle. Ford may have licensed it but it's an Aisin. Ford doesn't rhyme with Aisin so they never stuck a badge on it.
