Default 2011 Ford Escape Hybrid red triangle of death.

I have a 2006 ford escape hybrid with 235000 miles on it. I currently have a lot of things wrong with the AC etc and have decided to upgrade to a 2011 Hybrid. The car has 117000 miles and looks great but I only have seen pics and a carfax since the car is over 2000 miles away. The car was wholesaled out after a trade in at a ford dealer. The car had a total pre owned inspection and came back perfect. However while the non ford dealer dealer was backing up yesterday, he got the red triangle with a message that said stop safely now. He has since driven the car for a few days with no messages. The car is coming from Arizona where it is very hot. Any suggestions what the problem could have been. I had that problem with My 2006 hybrid and the mecs water pump but this does not seem to be the problem.. Any suggestions would be helpful.
Marc

As a Phoenix resident, I would vigorously discourage you from purchasing that car.

Why do you discourage purchasing car?

The DTCS pulled out were P1A10 AND P087C

For the obvious reasons:
1) you're 2000 miles away.
2) it's a used hybrid
3) it's a used hybrid in Phoenix
4) it's in PHOENIX, where batteries go to die.

The dealer told me these cars are not too popular in Phoenix. Are you telling me that the heat causes a lot of hybrid problems? He pulled too codes from OBDII.

Have you ever met a dealer you can trust? I haven't. I never take them at their word.

Phoenix heat is VERY hard on batteries, particularly the cylindrical cells of the FEH.

Unless they used a professional OBDII reader, I wouldn't believe that all codes are pulled.

Thank you for your help. The car looks brand new but I think I will take your advice. I had an 06 FEH in which I bought the premium warranty on. It had a lot of problems which would have cost me more than the car. Take care and thank you for all your help.
