Factory Warranty

Factory Warranty
Well my 36,000 mile warranty on my 2006 FEH will be up soon. I am not too concerned about the normal vehicle things as it seems to be a good one and has not given me any problems. I have read that the water pump may be a problem.
My question is how much of the drive system will still be covered under the Hybrid warranty. Is that just for the batteries or is all or some of the electric drive components covered.
I am wondering if I should think about the extended warranty as I plan on keeping the car for some time.

Re: Factory Warranty
I don't have my owner's manual handy but I remember reading the list of what is included in the extended hybrid warranty - HV battery, inverter and the drive motors? Don't quote me on that please but I know the manual lists what is included. It isn't as much as one would think...

Re: Factory Warranty
I believe Ford states that all "unique Hybrid components" are covered. I would interpret this to mean, in addition to the battery, inverter, and drive motors, also the transmission and hybrid management controls. One might try to extend it to the portions of the engine that make it an Atkinson cycle, but that might be stretching it.

Re: Factory Warranty
Glenn is correct. The extended hybrid specific warranty applied to only the 3 items Glenn listed.
Note: both electric motor/generators are permanently, physically,
integrated into the eCVT transmission, so are covered, but not listed separately.
