air conditioner problem
2005 Ford Escape Hybrid 4WD, runs great, really like the vehicle, and getting 30-32 mpg in mixed suburban driving in the Allentown PA area.
My air conditioner started making a squeak on start up this summer. I took it to my local Ford dealer assuming it was a minor problem, they said the air conditioner compressor is going bad and there is a national back order on the part. Cost of the repair is estimated at $1000, compressor costing $800!
So I took it to my local repair guy who figured he could do it for about $800, the part costing $600 for him. He finds out that the new after market compressor does not fit, so he put it all back together for me.
So now I'm on the waiting list for a new air conditioner compressor from Ford and it's been over a month now.
So back to my idea on getting the part new in the after market. Does anyone have experience with Auto Parts Warehouse or the maufacturer 4-Seasons A/C Compressor ?
