The blend door system just delays the a/c turning ON to cool the HV battery. If the outside air is cooler than the battery compartment then the blend door opens and brings in cool air, otherwise the a/c has to run to cool the battery. So the whole blend door system has only minimal affect on gas mileage.

Ah... so that's how it works. So, really, all I'm doing is reducing possible use of AC back there. So where I live, it's already kind of cool (fall weather), so I could have just let that stay broken a long time, at least until next summer!

Yes, if you don't mind the wrench light. One of the longtime members here, GaryG, did just that. IIRC his blend door failed and he refused to replace it and suffered no ill affects. You can search for his posts on that.

Good to know. Knowing myself though -- that yellow wrench light would've bugged the $#!% out of me so ... I would've gotten it done sooner rather than later.

So I had the same problem on my Ford Escape 2010 but there is no rear blend Actuator? The wrench light comes on when I am going any where between 65-75 MPH,? It never shut off the car but it worries me?. Any help out there?

Your 2010 does not have a blend door, a blend door actuator, or a filter because it does not have the entire system, including the #2 A/C evaporator in the rear driver's cargo compartment. Deleted on the 2010-2012 cars.

The battery cooling on your car is completely dependent on the main A/C system up front and just the two fans that draw in "cabin temperature" air and push it through the battery box. Maybe your fans are not working.

In order to diagnose what's wrong with your car we'll need more information including diagnostic trouble codes. You should pull the codes, give a better problem description and start a new thread so we can help you out.
