Everything Electric: Hot Hypercars Dominate the Week

Rimac Nevera

On our radar this week: Striking and breakneck e-whips from Rimac and Czinger, a Lexus tease, and how electric and hybrid cars rouse inspiration and IPOs.

Despite the recent holiday weekend, there was no slowing down the flurry of automotive activity. This week’s electric news round-up catches up with the new and noteworthy. In particular, two unique and innovative hypercar debuts got everyone buzzing. We also check out Lexus’ upcoming hybrid release, as well as dream evs and the real bottom line.

Rimac Nevera Hypercar

One of the most exciting ev companies on the scene is Croatia’s Rimac. And this week they debuted their new Rimac Nevera hypercar, the production-ready iteration of the Rimac C_Two concept car.

Rimac Nevera

The nameplate Nevera means “sudden storm” in Croatian–and that is fitting. With four individual motors–one per wheel–paired to single-speed gearboxes it develops 1,914 horsepower and 1,740 lb-ft of torque. It hits top speeds of 258 mph, sprints 0 to 60 in 1.85-seconds, and tears up the quarter-mile in 8.6-seconds.

After an extensive development program aimed at creating the ultimate electric hypercar driving experience, the Nevera was developed in-house at Rimac’s HQ in Croatia.

“This is it. This is the car I had in mind when I embarked on the ‘impossible’ journey ten years ago,” said Mate Rimac, Founder and CEO of Rimac Automobili.  “All our hard work has resulted in the Nevera – our record-breaking hypercar. This car was born to outperform, and to raise the bar, redefining the norm for performance cars. And not only in performance – but as an all-around package.”

Simply, the Rimac Nevera is one of the most supersonic and beautiful electric cars, ever.

Czinger 21C Hypercar Hybrid

Envelope-pushing auto company Czinger utilized their custom human-AI production system to build the state-of-the-art, high-performance production spec 21C hypercar.

Czinger 21C Production Hypercar

The Czinger 21C was created in part using additive manufacturing technologies. Each component manufactured using this technology is computationally engineered using AI, optimized for weight and performance and finished by hand.

21C’s hybrid powertrain uses the world’s most power dense production IC engine as its foundation–a 2.88 liter, flat-plane crank V8 with twin turbos located mid-vehicle. The V8 is coupled with an 800V electric drive and regen system.

An e-motor drives each front wheel and the batteries are charged during operation both through regenerative braking and a Motor Generator Unit (MGU) using a gear drive that is attached to the IC engine. The total strong hybrid system delivers a peak output of 1250 hp. Whoa.

We can’t wait to see more of this ride in action, as well as how Czinger will continue to employ more cutting-edge tech in development and manufacturing,
