Must Watch: Dad Builds an Electric Wooden Lamborghini Sian Replica For His Son

Woodworker Truong Van Dao’s wooden Lamborghini even includes the signature scissor doors and a key fob!

Lamborghini Sian is Sant’Agata Bolognese brand’s first foray into the electrified space, and like most Lambos, this hybrid sports car also makes quite an impression. As it turns out, the influence of Lamborghini Sian is not limited by international borders. German design engineer, Mitja Borkert’s eye-catching styling inspired a Vietnamese woodworker Truong Van Dao, who carved a functioning scale model of the hybrid car out of wood, which is powered by a battery-only drivetrain.

Like all of his other creations, Van Dao’s latest Lambo-inspired build is also a gift for his toddler son, who can be seen riding shotgun alongside his father. Van Dao achieved notoriety through his YouTube channel- ND Woodworking Art- where he uploads videos featuring time-lapses of his projects that are usually based on popular supercars. The Vietnamese artisan did not use laser grids to map out his work or 3D printers to carve out panels.

Instead, every panel is carved by hand, and Van Dao only used a pen to lay his designs down on the wooden blocks. The car is propelled using an electric motor, which makes it a BEV, but it does not use a sophisticated lithium-ion drivetrain. The electric motor is powered by what looks like a pair of lead-acid batteries, and the power is sent to the rear wheels using a chain-drive mechanism.

Van Dao’s handiwork also comes equipped with Lamborghini’s signature scissor doors which can be actuated using a key fob. The LED headlights and taillights perfectly emulate the ones found on the real Sian. Even the wheels are a spitting image of the Sian rims and feature hand-painted Lamborghini logos. The entire build process took 65 days to complete, and the fit and finish of the final product is simply sublime.

The car also has quite a substantial turning radius, which is probably why we see Van Dao ferrying his son around on the streets of Bac Ninh. Nevertheless, the attention to detail throughout the car is simply extraordinary, and this behind-the-scenes video is very satisfying to watch. Safe to say, Truong’s son is probably the most popular kid in the neighborhood.
