Audi Grandsphere Concept

This week Audi and Volkswagen unveiled new concepts, while a custom Land Rover conversion also steals some thunder.

New vehicles are frequently entering the electric vehicle arena. Not only are we seeing new models, we are seeing a lot of new automakers. It is an interesting era for established, venerable companies. Not only do they need to adapt to meet the shifting demands of the the market; but they need to retain brand identity while also evolving. It isn’t an easy balancing act. For this week’s Everything Electric, we will be looking at how three different makes and models have embraced electrification with zeal.

Audi Delivers Smooth Roads

In designing the Grandsphere Concept car, Audi took a cue from the friendly skies. Conceptualized as a first-class flight, the 17.6 ft. long Grandsphere sedan emphasizes luxury and comfort with a comprehensive onboard experience.

With a Level 4 automated driving mode, the interior turns into a spacious “sphere of experience.” Airy and roomy, there is no steering wheel, pedals, or displays in keeping with the autonomous concept. It feels especially open and modern, but still allows drivers access to all the functions of the Audi Grandsphere’s integrated system.

As an idea, the Grandsphere is certainly interesting, and it is a very beautiful car. We would love to see this translate to an equally sleek and luxe EV sedan down the line.

VW Tackles New Paths

VW ID.LIFE (Volkswagen)

Volkswagen went in a different direction with the ID. LIFE concept, an EV targeted for the compact car market. Volkswagen will launching the first model of the ID in 2025, and this is an idea of the direction they are aiming for. Priced at around 25k-29k, VW wants their small crossover EV to offer stellar technology and urban mobility at a reasonable price.

The ID. LIFE marks the an innovative combination of electric motor and front-wheel drive. A 172 kW electric motor drives the front wheels and accelerates the ID. LIFE from zero to 62 mph in 6.9 seconds.

Inside, the ID interior is stunning, clean, and enables easy tech accessibility with its very slick design. As far as a concept or teaser of the upcoming VW ID it is a strong move that stays nicely in step with Volkswagen’s past and future.

Everrati Elevates Land Rover’s Off-Road Game

Everrati Land Rover Electric Conversion

Everrati has been behind some of the most unforgettable electric conversions we’ve ever seen. Their team meticulously restores and modifies iconic nameplates into EVs kicking with classic cool and modern power.

And now their latest creation is the Land Rover Series IIA. Not only is the classic ride a thing of beauty, it is built to throw down. Zero emissions, it can hit zero to 60 in about 13 seconds, and the rig (available in 2WD/4WD) is pumping 150 horses. We love seeing these classic rides on the road. While others blaze trails by going forward, companies like Everrati do the same by rebuilding the past.
