Ford Unveils Mustang Mach-E Police Car Concept

Seven British forces are currently appraising a Mach-E police car concept that made its debut at Emergency Services Show.

The United Kingdom’s finest might soon adopt electric mobility in style. A Mach-E police concept recently took center stage at the Emergency Services Show, which was held in Birmingham. The UK’s forces asked Ford to develop a purpose-built all-electric patrol vehicle, and the Blue Oval brand kitted out a Standard Range AWD variant of the Mach-E as a police patrol vehicle. Seven British forces are currently testing and evaluating the new concept.

The Mach-E police car concept sports a very special 999 livery made using high specification material, which enhances the EV’s visibility during day and night. The concept gets special brackets and mounting pods. Ford’s technicians also found an ingenious solution to power the patrol vehicle’s equipment without compromising the EV’s range.

The Mustang Mach-E’s 12-Volt battery will power all high-tech equipment, including the car’s sirens and LED blue lights. As a result of this, the British emergency services will be able to carry out their operations without any range anxiety. Blue Light Direct Sales Manager of Ford of Britain and Ireland- Terry Adams- offered his insights on the new police car concept.

Mach-E Police car concept’s impressive range and performance make it a viable green solution.

“The vehicle range is uncompromised as the blue light equipment is being drawn from the vehicle’s 12V battery and not the drive battery,” said Adams. He further added, “In future developments we will look to increase this battery capacity to allow for additional equipment to be fitted.”

The Mustang Mach-E is one of the most efficient electric cars in the world. The EV’s impressively low energy consumption also earned it a Guinness World Record. The 68 kWh battery pack of the Standard Range AWD variant can deliver 248 miles of range. The EV takes 6.3 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 62 MPH. Ford might also build a police car concept based on the GT version of Mach-E. This concept can hit the 62 MPH mark in just 3.7 seconds.

The car’s silent powertrain will also give it unparalleled stealth capability. Ford’s long-term collaborator Safeguard SVP helped develop the Mach-E Police car concept. The duo also presented a five-tonne transit-based ‘Protected Personnel Carrier’ conversion at the Emergency Services Show.
