Everything Electric: Pininfarina to Debut 1,900 HP Hyper GT
New vehicles on the way include an ultra-slick hypercar, the first Jeep EV, and something from Dodge.
This week’s news was dominated by the word of new and noteworthy vehicles. Automobil Pininfarina, Dodge, and Jeep all announced upcoming EV and hybrid projects in the works. All very intriguing, and all very different.
The vehicles are a good reflection of the evolving industry, and include everything from high-performance to rebuilding an American icon. Well, everything minus an internal combustion engine. Check out the next wave of EVs.
Battista Unveiled at Monterey Car Week
Automobili Pininfarina will be heading to Monterey Car Week (August 12 – 15) to give a first look at their insane Battista GT. The first production-spec of the pioneering pure-electric Battista hyper GT is making a bold statement on the direction of the company. And show that they can build the sleekest, fastest, craziest hypercar. Capable of going 0 – 62 in under two seconds, the 1,900hp electric hyper GT is expected to be mind blowing.
Monterey Car Week will also see the US premiere of the exclusive Battista Anniversario, a tribute to the life and work of design icon Battista ‘Pinin’ Farina. A rare care that is limited to just five vehicles worldwide.
The exclusive hyper GT will be joined at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance by a fleet of iconic Pininfarina-designed vehicles to celebrate more than 90 years of design excellence.
All-electric Jeep: Coming 2023
Stellantis has announced that Jeep’s first all-electric vehicle is set to come out in early 2023. The Jeep Wrangler Magneto concept recently got in some trail time this spring in Moab, Utah during Jeep’s annual Easter off-roading safari.
They are not too forthcoming with the details, but we know that the Magneto is a Wrangler variant that has a six-speed manual gearbox. Wisely, the company seems focused on keeping this true to the signature Jeep DNA and off-road capability. Jeep told The Detroit News they anticipate that 70% of their sales will be electrified by 2025, including hybrid and mild hybrid vehicles.
Dodge Announces Hybrid
Additionally, Stellantis announced that Dodge will have a plug-in hybrid option on the market by next year. It was surprising to see how quickly the company got to work on electrification. Of course, this begs the question: What is the hybrid?
While the Charger and Challenger are possibilities, it seems unlikely as Dodge announced that the first electric muscle car will be in 2024. But Dodge seems focused in how they plan to retain their muscle car rep in an EV world, so we’re thinking this is more likely a Durango.
Progress and new rides, always good news.
