Cadillac Opening Order Banks For LYRIQ on Sept 18

General Motors’ luxury sub-brand will start accepting orders for its first-ever all-electric offering next month.

Like many legacy automakers, General Motors also recently announced its plans to increase its investment in autonomous driving and electrification technology to $35 billion by 2025. The company wants to become an all-electric brand by as early as 2035. As part of this initiative, the automotive giant will also be launching many electric-only models, and now, GM’s luxury sub-brand Cadillac has announced that it will start accepting orders for the highly anticipated LYRIQ SUV on Sept 18.

The car is expected to enter production sometime early next year and will be launched as a 2023 model. The order banks will open at 4 p.m. EDT/1 p.m. PDT. For those unfamiliar with the LYRIQ SUV, Cadillac’s first-ever all-electric offering will deliver over 300 miles of driving range on a full charge. Customers will also get to equip their LYRIQs with Cadillac’s Super Cruise driver assistance technology.

Recently General Motors filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against Ford for using the word “cruise” as part of the BlueCruise moniker, which is used to denote the Blue Oval brand’s SAE Level 2 autonomous driving system. Cadillac’s Super Cruise technology is one of the most capable ADAS in the market and will complement LYRIQ’s premium appeal.

Rory Harvey, Vice President, Global Cadillac shared his thoughts on the 2023 LYRIQ. “The 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ will deliver a high-performance luxury experience setting a new standard for Cadillac,” said Harvey.
General Motors’ Ultium battery platform will underpin the upcoming LYRIQ SUV, and GM’s Hummer EV will also be based on the same modular vehicle architecture and battery technology. The latter will make its debut later this fall. Cadillac LYRIQ is expected to initially be available in the first half of 2022, and it will also mark Cadillac’s first venture in the luxury EV segment.

Cadillac has confirmed that prices for the LYRIQ will start from $58,795, and the company also has plans to add a more expensive “Performance” model to the lineup, at a later stage. 2023 LYRIQ is one of over 30 battery-powered models, which General Motors intends to launch in China and North America by 2025. At its price point, Cadillac LYRIQ will rival the likes of Ford Mach-E, Audi e-tron, Volkswagen ID.4, and the current segment leader Tesla Model Y.
