Default Energy Consumption: Bug in a 2007

Hi everyone,

I have now filled the tank twice on my 2007 Prius, and I have a question. When watching the energy consumption display during my drives, I have noticed that when the real-time meter is pegged at 100 MPH (while coasting, braking, etc), if the 5-min window for calculating my average mileage occurs, then the average mileage for that five minutes is registered at 100 MPH. This isnt possible, since my average mileage for the tank may even decline during this same time period, and I am never in the position of keeping the car at 100 MPH for any extended period of time.

Has anyone else seen this bug? Is it also found in cars of previous years? Or do I have a "unique" vehicle?

Thanks!

Suzzanne,

When your 'real-time' display says 100 MPG, the actual MPG can be anything higher than 100 as this is the highest number that the display is programmed to show. The 5 minute average shows the result of dividing the miles driven by gallons used in that period (again limited to the range of 0 - 100 MPG). All of these calculations are subject to interesting small errors in all of the Prius models, not just yours.
