Any advice on tires for the '06 Prius???
Hello all,
I am looking for advice on which tires I could put on my wife's '06 Prius to give her better winter performance and hopefully better ride characteristics than the OEM badyears.
Thank you!

Hello,
I'm also faced with the same decision as you; my fiance is the primary driver of our prius and i want the best for her safety. Right now i have decided in buying a separate set of steel rims and attaching a set of winter tires: i'm opting for the Michelin X-ICE and just saving the OEM alluminum wheels + goodyear (OEM) for the non winter season until they wear out.
good luck.

I think it's safe to say that OEM stock tires are pretty much on the low end of tires, however I've only had my car since march and it has not seen any snow, however, i didnt notice anything wrong with the OEM stock tires. I have driven them through rain they are pretty good, they havent hydroplaned on me yet. Aside from slipping here and there on rainy days I think it's normal for every tire to do that especially hitting the gas pedal hard from a full stop, as long as it's driven accordingly to weather and road conditions in conjunction with common sense, these tires have been fairly safe so far. I just check the pressures routinely as well I take them out every few Kms to check for any nails or screws imbedded in them and tighen them back with a torque wrench.
Just my experience.
thanks to the person who posted the survey, I will also definately check out the Goodyear tripple threads or michellin Hydroedge for the non winter season as soon as my OEM goodyears wear out.
