I recently purchased my Scangauge, so I guess I'm just noticing the sparseness of info more accutely. Incidentally, my version is 3.14.

Is it normal to see the MPG in the range of 1000-9999?
If you'll collect and edit the information, I'll be happy to put it in the FAQ with attribution.

One important thing that hasn't been mentioned in this thread is that the Scangauge II does NOT currently display CAN messages. The manufacturer says it will "real soon now". If you have one and want it updated you will have to return it for that (once they have the CAN part sorted out).

The CAN decoding is required for the hybrid readouts, such as traction battery status, current, etc. Once they get it sorted out I plan on purchasing another one. I'm told I can run two in the car by connecting them together using the second RJ45 port to feed the data to the second unit. This would give me eight parameters to display.
Currently my SG II displays:
Fuel consumption (l/hr)------------------12V battery voltage
Engine RPM------------------------------Coolant temperature

This allows me to -know- when the ice is running, whether my 12V battery might be in trouble because I left something on, and whether I should add/remove my front grill blocking.

I emailed Linear-Logic. I asked what the new version number of the firmware is and what their plans were for a PC interface. Here's the reply:

We are currently shipping V3.15. The only difference is that it will allow more vehicle specific gauges on the Toyota Prius.

We are working on an [PC] interface accessory for the ScanGaugeII. The interface is a unit with memory and processing power itself. It has a cable that plugs into the unused connector on the ScanGaugeII and another that plugs into a USB port on a computer. They don't have to both be plugged in at the same time.

The interface will use SD Cards for data storage. You can plug it into the ScanGauge for logging and for other upload/download tasks. It can be removed from the vehicle and taken to a computer for data transfers.

The ScanGaugeII has all the hardware needed for the interface, but will need an upgrade of its program to use it. The Upgrade is free when you purchase the interface.

Price has not been finalized yet. It is expected to be under $100. This will also include the software for a windows based computer.

I will send you an e-mail when it is to be offered for sale.

So I guess that means the price will be $99.

New email from Linear Logic:

Our website now shows the details of the new features and tells you how to get an upgrade [to version 3.15].

Basically if you ordered it before July 20, '07, it will cost $25. On or after that date it's free. The return form is available via the website as a pdf doc.

Interesting because Linear Logic told me the update would be free and I got my SG2 before 7-20-07. Now I am supposed to pay $25 plus pay to ship it back and be without it for a length of time? They even said they would email when the upgrade was ready and they haven't done that!

My manual calculation when I pump up (tank full to tank full) is 5 MPG lower than the computer calculated MPG. This is the biggest thing!!! Does Scan Gauge help determine the real mielage?

It helps but a manual calculation is probably the most accurate method.

I use manual for overall and the MFD for experiments.
