I bought inserts from NY dealer just couple weeks ago, no problem even if they're rather expensive. I replaced them myself (dealer didn't offer and I didn't ask for him to do it), took about 2 min. really no big deal, but I can understand why dealer wouldn't want to sell them if people asked him for free installation. All you need to do is squeeze the end where the blade is held and slide it out, then put the old metal pieces inside new blade and slide it back little by little until it locks at the end, I wish everything was that easy.

Thanks for the link. About to place an order. Interesting that cars made in Japan have different wiper inserts than those made in the U.S.

Have you tried those blades?

Hi,
Here in BC ( Canada, west coast- lotsa rain), I always use factory inserts on Japanese cars, they're cheap ( approx $5), and work well. A bit of effort to replace, but worth it.

Perhaps in the States, it's not worth doing the "replacement insert" route?

P.S. if you find them and are about to change them be careful to ensure the Stainless strips are sprung as smiles or "frowns" bowed up or down, to accommodate the designed tension.

I know they offer inserts because I had my Sienna blades changed late last year.
Price has gone up a bit but I just had the dealer install wiper inserts on my 2007 Camry Hybrid. Price $8.70 per side installed.

No, no need so far. Our 2009 is just a little over a year old now and with the car being garaged and our mild weather the blades usually last two to three years.

When the time comes I will get the factory inserts and install them myself. The factory units are much better looking than the replacement units. I printed the instructions from HaroldO's post and saved it for when the time comes.
