Will my brake pads last forever?

Will my brake pads last forever?
A topic I've not seen discussed.
With the regenerative braking system I expect my brake pads to be used much less than in a conventionally designed car.
Will my brake pads last longer in my TCH or has Toyota reduced the thickness of the pads (cost saving measure) knowing they will be used less? In which case my brake pads life will be closer to typical?

Re: Will my brake pads last forever?
Yes our brake pads will last longer than normal due to regen. braking. This is based on my discussion with one of the Toyota technicians at the dealership. I asked him if I should be using the "B" setting (engine braking) in transimission to increase brake pad life and he said not to worry about brake pads wear at all as he has seen rusted pads (due to regen. braking) on many Priuses that he has serviced in past.

Not only will the brake pads last forever, you'll never need to fill the gas tank, and never change the oil.
Seriously, my bet is the brake pads on the TCH will last longer than typical pads, but becuase the TCH engages the conventional brakes at the same time as the regen braking system and then varies the percentage of each,

I think you'll still see the need to replace the pads from time to time. As evidence to this, I've noticed some brake pad dust on all four rims when I wash the car.
Edit: I have no idea why that link won't work. Here's another thread with this issue...with a functional link: https://www.greenhybrid.com/discuss/...e+braking+tech

The reason your link doesn't work is that there is some text missing. Apparently the site software truncates the link eliminating part of the text.
