Technical Servce Bulletin. They put them out to advise dealers to fix problems under warranty, but only if an owner complains. They are generally for minor problems, like the squeaking console or the smelly A/C.

I am ready to set up an appointment. Do you happen to know the TSB number for this fix? I would like to share it with them when I call.

Thanks!

Hmmmm... can anyone with access to this TSB post the affected VINs? I haven't had any trouble with aux input noise in my '08, and I'm wondering if this was rolled in when it was built.

That is certainly possible. You would definitely know it if you heard it.

According to my service guy ( who ROCKS, by the way) the TSB # is as follows.....

AU004-07.

My guess is that the "07" means it would only apply to 2007 models. Good luck!!!

Cool! Thanks.

And I think the 07 actually means it was issued in 2007, probably fourth one issued in August. But I still think they may have fixed this in the 08 models.

Wxman, were you able to plug the starmate directly into the AUX input?? If so, that is awesome. No degrading of signal by passing it off to FM station! If you did that, was there any special equipment necessary?

You can plug in directly to the aux input with any mini-plug cable. Hell, I tested it with the one from my computer! I bought an $8.00 cord at Radio Shack because it had a 90 degree plug. I have the whole Starmate installed in that storage area, and you have to have that 90 degree bend to make it fit. When you park the car, you just close the lid, and it is invisible....

Wxman, thats a really good idea! I wasn't going to get sat. radio because I didn't want to pay the $400 plus to get it installed. This way seems much better and cheaper, with no sound quality loss! How did you set up your antenna? When you say 90 degree plug, do you mean it looks like the old "walkman" style headphone plug? What starmate version do you have?

I have the antenna in the rear deck inside the car. Reception is very good. Snake the cable up the side of the car under the dash and into the storage compartment. Power and aux input are in there, so there is no visible wiring. I velcroed the radio to a plastic "L" bracket, and velcroed that to the floor of the storage bin.

Yes, plug is similar to the old walkman plugs. The plug is perpendicular to the wire when you lay it out.

I have an older version of the Starmate 4. Same basic thing. Good luck. If you need any help, let me know.
