So I got the four tires from TIRERACK. The question now is whether to buy any road hazard warranty. ( http://www.tirerack.com/tires/roadHazard/trhp.jsp) Tire rack sells them at about $56 for 36 months. max credit for flat tire repair is $25.
Should I get this from tirerack or buy the road hazard from different seller?

I like it cos it covers tire nails. but what su**s is that it is good for only 36 months.

Tire warranties are something that everyone needs to decide for themselves. I don't buy them (never have) and have saved enough over the years to have bought several sets of tires with the savings. Other guys I know couldn't go 5,000 miles before blowing a tire.

For simple flats, I have a local store that will fix them for $15.

My experience:

OEM tires (Bridgestone): 25K miles before replacing.

At 25K miles, replaced with Bridgestone Turanza Serenity. Those lasts about 35K miles. I could have gotten maybe 40K, but I don't like driving slicks with winter a couple months off.

Now I have Bridgestone Ecopia 442, which I was told was a "lesser" tire, but they seem fine to me; we'll see. Definitely rides better than the Turanza.

I got the Primacy MXV4 for about $530 after rebate (installed) just a few months ago, replacing the exact same ones I used last time. They lasted about 40K miles of mixed driving over about 3 years. The OEM Michelin tires lasted about 2.5 years and 85k miles! To replace them would have cost about $750, IIRC. I actually don't like tires being on there for more than about 3 to 4 years, the rubber gets hard and I don't trust them. Besides, they get dinged up and nasty by 3 to 4 years.

I'm with you one the top rated Primacy MXV4 tires shown on the Tire Rack site. I also like to buy new tires around 35 to 40K.

I bought mine from a discount tire store as they made a $65 trade for each of my oem Bridgestone tires when my XLE hybrid was new. The primacy is tops in gas mileage due to it's LRR rating. Another new michelin tire is the Defender which is only a little less in it's LRR rating, but look at it's lasting ability.

This site makes for easy comparison of various michelin tires.

I bought my Primacy mxv4 tires at Costco at 40,000 miles. They're even than the original Michelins that came on the car

Update to this old, old post. I had the Michelin Energy tires and they were toast after 40k of driving. Fitted the TCH with Continental Control Contact all season's, exclusive to Discount Tire. Have been very happy with them and my MPG has not suffered. I find 35 psi to be the sweet spot for handling/mpg to me.
