Default TCH hitch installation

I just purchased and installed a "hidden hitch" on my TCH and it went on perfectly. Only problem is that a large plastic cover over an empty area to the left of the spare tire well has to be removed for the installation and cannot be reinstalled because it does not fit.
The regular Camrys do not have this plastic cover. Can anyone give me some clue as to the need for it or can I just put it aside?

Which exact hitch did you get? I need one and am trying to figure out the best and easiest one to install.

And how far below the bumper did it mount? I need mine as high as possible, close to the bumper.

Sorry, I don't know anything about the plastic cover, but I would find a place for it and keep it in case you need it later. I'm a PackRat though......

I don't know for sure but I suspect it is to improve airflow under the car. I'm about to install a hitch and I think I will cut out a slot so the cover can be replaced.

I just thought I would include the link to a previous very informative discussion on hitch issues and options for the TCH.

The "Hidden Hitch" brand. It tucks up behind the bumper and the receiver drops down just below the bumper so that that's the only thing you see.
