Question TCH drive system

Hey you tech types, I’d like to know just how the power system works in the TCH. I’ve read that the MG2 is the high torque motor, the MG1 is the speed motor and power generation device, and the ICE is used to supply the energy to MG1 for power generation and also to power to the drive system as necessary.

I’ve also read that the ICE is always ran at it’s peak fuel efficiency and torque, does this mean that the ICE only has two fixed rpms, one for idle or warm-up, (approx. 1000 rpm), and the other for power generation and drive system, (approx. 4500 rpm).

Thanks in advance.

click "Understanding the Prius"

The TCH drivetrain is very similar to the Prius drivetrain.
