Re: TCH 07 key battery out?
Received a message via the dash read out three days ago that my key battery was low. I have not got that message again to date.
I shopped around for a replacement battery, not available at all the usual suspects, however did find them in Battery World in north east Calgary for $3 Canadian each tax included.

HELP!!!!!
We got locked out of our car! Key fob not opening car. Before this happened we got the warning low key battery and drove it for dinner while it said key not detected. Got done with dinner and could not get into our car. It is sitting in a parking lot now. ANY IDEAS???? From what I understand this battery has to be ordered online (from Radioshack) and won't get to us until the end of next week. My husband is going to the dealer tomorrow. Any place we can get it locally????? Any other way to get into the car in order to get it started????
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: TCH 07 key battery out?
there is a mechanical key inside the fob
there is a button on the side that allows it to slide out
open the door with the key (there is a slot in the door handle)
put foot on brake
hold the key fob with the toyota icon up to the power button
indicator light on power button should turn green and you might hear a buzzer
you have five seconds to press the power button
this link will download the 2007 manual http://www-rohan.sdsu.edu/%7Enash/TC...s%20Manual.pdf
go to the 21st page of the manual (there are non numbered pages at the beginning) for the section on the key
the 2007 key system is the same as the 08-10 models

Re: TCH 07 key battery out?
I tried the Swiss made battery for the key fob. This other battery did not seem to last as long as the original. Now here in 8 months it's time for another. I can't complain as this sports mail order battery only cost about $1.
The toyota dealer and radio shack, $5 is about the only place I have heard you might find one. I called some auto dealers including walmart automotive and they don't carry that number. I think the original was a Panasonic battery.

I had this issue once- It was very scary- thought I was going to be stranded in NYC. Anyways, I soon realized that you can disable the wireless key by rapidly pressing the lock button. If you press it rapidly again, the key powers back on.
Strange little feature....

Our 2007 warned us about the weak battery for days before I replaced it, and at that time it was still strong enough to open the doors from a few feet away. Are you sure you didn't have the low battery indication for quite a while, and just didn't notice it, or pay attention to it?

Re: TCH 07 key battery out?
I understand that when the key fob battery is really weak. Try holding it near your drives side door handle. That should shorten the range where you can open your door.
Next, would be to press the small release lever on the side of the fob. Pull the key out the end and use it to manually open your drivers side door. After use, the key will snap back into the fob for safe keeping.
You can also start your car by holding the near dead fob up against the start button.
My wife keeps the other TCH fob in her purse. Were together most of the time. Mine gets weak I can use her fob.
