Can any knowledgeable person please provide proper instructions with photos for an oil and filter change on a 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid with photos. I am also confused regarding these new filters that come without the casing.

you're probably confused with the oil filter on the ICE camry v6. its similar to the ICE camry I4 which uses a spin-on filter.

So I'm guessing the hybrid oil change is no different than a regular, good ol fashioned oil change.

Or might we need a scan tool to perform this simple task.

Nope. No different. In later years they introduced canister filters. Not yours. Look up my post on transmission fluid change. At the end of it, there is pic of where the filter is. Please, don't mess with cap filter wrenches. Buy a spider wrench with 3 prongs. Be happy.
