Replacing the TCH 2AZ-FXE engine
I'm in need of a replacement engine for my 2009 TCH. However, I am having difficulty in getting a 2AZ-FXE engine in very good condition. My mechanic recommends the regular 2AZ-FE.
I know the compression ratio & the delivered torque are different.
Does anyone know if this swap will work? And what would be the effect of such a swap?

You would have to reprogram the ECU and hybrid control system to do this swap and it will NOT be easy. The FXE engine has different internal parts than the FE engine (Cam, Crankshaft, Rods and Pistons at a minimum).
Can your engine be re-built? If not, get with a GOOD parts guy and find the different components in the FXE engine and re-build a regular FE engine to FXE specs.

I'm glad I found this post. I had a similar problem. I bought a fully Re-manufactured Toyota Camry 2AZ FXE hybrid long block from http://www.bestjapaneseengines.com/e...a/toyota-camry
I got the engine from them at a very reasonable price. Rebuilt engine costed me as much as a used engine at a salvage yard. You might want to call them.
