I got jumped for advertising for even mentioning a "brand name" on this forum which is why we became a site sponsor.

No I do not, unless shopping at Advance Auto, buying Mobil 1's products, or purchasing gasoline is considered an association or relationship with said companies. This is information that is readily available to the public, published in Advance Auto's circular and on their website.

And I do recall you being "jumped" because you were promoting Eneos like crazy. As I see it, I was neither promoting Advance Auto or Mobil 1, just informing people that there is an affordable option for their next oil change, and this information was not accompanied by any promotion or judgment of the product or retailer mentioned.

It looks to me like Joe is simply trying to help others save some money.

OK. I will take you at your word. But, perhaps the moderator can clarify what is considered "advertising" and if this is consistent with the terms of service?

Yes. By the way, here is the actual site: http://advanceauto.shoplocal.com/adv...toreid=2370190

Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with Mobil 1 or Advance Auto.

ADvanceAuto has a great deal on synthetic oil with filter now. Mobil 1 deal has expired. New deal is even cheaper. For $24.99 you get a K&N filter (HP-1002) with 5 quarts of Castrol Synthetic oil. No 0W20 but 5W20 which I bought. I bought 4 sets for $108 after tax. They said I saved $96 of their regular price.

Cool Re: Recommended oil?

the brand of synthetic does not make any difference. No one here will have any personal experience on it. Just reading from bias article and reviews thinking they using the best on market. If you change you oil at regular interval and use a decent filter (like K&N, mobil 1) it will not damage you car. don't listen to skywagon just because he got expensive cars doesn't mean he knows jack.

Wow, I'm feeling a little animosity here, and it's not constructive at all.

I'm satisfied with my 29.99 purchase for 5 qts of Mobil 1 0w-20 and a Mobil 1 filter (and I got 2 bucks off a Purolator air filter too). If cousinvinny wants to buy some Castrol Syntec and a K&N filter, who am I to say one way or another. As long as cousinvinny's TCH doesn't leak oil onto my TCH, I could care less what's going on in his (or her?) driveway/garage.

Personally, I like sticking to Pennzoil or Mobil 1 (mainly because my Toyota service center uses Castrol...haha) and I'm willing to pay 5 bucks more (though I'm not willing to pay retail).

So, let's all just get along in hybrid land.
