Default Radio Text

I don't have sattelite radio, but want to know about the radio text. I seem to recall seeing in my friend's Suburban (but am not positive) that the FM stations displayed the song and artist. I've pressed the text button on my TCH, but never see the text.
Do some FM stations broadcast the text (or was I mistaken and was I actually seeing the Satellite Radio text)?

Not all radio stations do. It's hit or miss. Some do and some don't. The satellite companys do though for every channel.

It depends on the station.
I have the NAV and some retrieval is disabled when the car is in motion.

Wow! I didn't know that. Thanks! (Although I rarely listen to the radio with my iPod connected)

The Nav doesn't show you the artist\title on FM when you are driving? I am not experiencing this. It doesn't do this on regular vehicles.

My Sirius channels always display the artist and song title. Local L.A. radio stations sometimes do, I think depending on their frequencies. One of the reasons I usually listen to Sirius...not to mention the lack of annoying commercials!!

Yep. Same for me but XM here. I used to be with Sirius....soon to be one in the same.

The only functionality loss I get is with Nav and my Cell phone but those are already know points for everyone....unless you perform the hacks (when available).

I think it prevents scrolling of the text. If you are listening to a MP3 CD, you are also unable to browse the folders while in motion.

In all honesty, Toyota went WAY WAY WAY overboard with their disabling crap.

That said, I use my iPod almost exclusively.
