Keep in mind the Electric Motor is only 40 horse power. Pay attention to how hard the ICE is working. If you have a low battery the ICE will be much loader. I am amazed how the ICE does not work very hard at all. It is all in how you look at it!
As a side not I drove the TCH from Denver to Silverton and back to Denver in one day to take some photographs in Silverton. The car ran great on the trip. I drove over two mountain passes approaching Silverton. As I drove over the second pass (Red Mountain) I notice the battery was completely empty! At that point the sound of the ICE was really noticeable at any speed. On the final decent in to Silverton the car regenerated only three bars. Most of my travels around town were completely on battery power! The battery was full again after I passed back over the two passes.
My trip average was 43.6 mpgs which was amazing to me considering the 7 mountain passes!
I am ready for the summer vacations!
