Could ethanol be part of the problem? My mileage has dropped about 10% since all the gas stations in Tampa made the switch.

 

I did read on here that you can expect about a 10% drop in mileage when you use it.

 

Don't beleive everything you read or hear, a friend has one and runs strickly e-85 which is 85% alkie and gets 40 to 46 MPG all the time, boils down to learning how to drive period.

ok so it has less energy, just not sure how much less.
Personally i avoid the stuff whenever possible. Its not a solution for anything in my opinion.
Waste of time and money by Washington to mandate its use to help out corn growers while avoiding the real problem of burning oil / alcohol products in cars.

The article is from a site that promotes ethanol use. The link below is from CNN and states that E85 selling at 3.30 a gallon is equal to paying 4.34 a gallon for gasoline. It depends on which way you want your statistics, uh I mean lies, uh.. numbers yeah, numbers sounds right, to work.....

Your mileage will be 31.5% more than ethanol or 24% less than gasoline

I wasn't supporting it nor ridiculing it, although IMHO, it's the dumbest idea since .... (let's just say that there have been a number of short sighted politically motivated mistakes made over the last few decades, and leave it at that).
I just Googled it and posted my findings.

 

Not to mention that Alcohol is a solvent more so than gasoline. I still don't buy the idea that the presence of Ethanol does not impact the oil barrier coat on the valve guides and rings. It can't do them any good.

 

Not an expert, but I believe Indy cars use 100% ethanol and NASCAR fans blood is 20% alcohol. (j/k)
