How should we manage the FAQ?

The FAQ (see my signature for link) is starting to get very lenghty.
My fear is that a new member or viewer will in all likelihood, scan the top of the list and then get overwhelmed and close the page (I know that is what I would do) rendering the FAQ a useless tool for the masses.
Should we try and edit it by taking the answers to secondary questionsand putting them in a separate page.
What should we do?

"How do I increase my mileage?" would be deemed a primary question.
"How do I remove the badge or How do I disable the seatbelt alarm?" are examples of a secondary questions.
As it stands right now, there are a few secondary questions that have external answers, but some secondary questions appear with answers, some that are pretty lengthy (e.g. debug mode)."How do I remove the badge or How do I disable the seatbelt alarm?" are examples of a secondary questions.
What should we do?

I think the first post should contain all of the questions as links to the other posts in the thread that contain the real answers. We should try to have all of this in one sticky thread.
OR
Since other people are likely to post and then the questions would get lost, we would keep the first post in the thread to contain ALL information, but simply put a list of questions with named anchors (HTML) -- if it is even possible?

How about the following threads:
Answers to How come my mileage stinks
Answers to Should I get an extended warranty
etc.
Then the FAQ would be a simple post containing 15-20 questions as hyperlinks to the above answers.
People would ask questions about the specific question in the answer posts, since all they would see in the FAQ are the Qs (questions, that is)

How about this... (each answer would be a hyperlink)

I like that idea, except I am concerned the other threads may "disappear." If we could keep the answers within the FAQ thread, and nothing more, that would be best. For example, have the admins allow posts from only a few people? I have seen this done elsewhere.
I think we want to achieve a FAQ that contains FAQ content and not much more.

The top post could be the FAQ as I presented above.
The replies could be the answers.
The questions would be hyperlinks to the permalink.
The only problem is that users wouldn't be able to reply with a question or concern.
Work around would be to add "please click New Topic to ask questions on this topic"
Let me know, I'm open to any ideas

If there is a quest regarding a FAQ entry, it should probably be asked in a separate thread. That said, the benefit of having option one in the poll above would be allowing people to post corrections and questions where the information could be filtered and then added to the main FAQ post (first post in the thread).
We have pros and cons to both.
My main point is to keep it contained and easy to read/print.
Thanks for all of this Larry.

I think we should have comments regarding the FAQ in the form of PMs or a separate thread named FAQ Comments with a link at the bottom of the FAQ. Extraneous comments tend to make the FAQ a confusing and unwieldy thread.
I'd love to have one post with 15 'answer' replies and then have the thread closed.

I agree, PMs or a separate thread.
The "Revised FAQ" looks much better. I sent you a PM and will look at the rest later (have to catch a train into NYC).
