In New Jersey we hybrid types (hybridites?) may be more sensitive than the average driver, but we've had to develop a thick skin as well (as in "you live where?").

I came back from Phoenix over the weekend also. As I only have 1400 miles on my TOH after this trip I didn't do as well as you did, 36 mpg for the whole trip, but the first leg from Phoenix to Gilroy (75 miles) without the AC, the computer said I was getting over 42 mpg. Air temp was in the 70's. There was some rush hour traffic and an accident on I-10. I only averaged 50 mph doing this part. The rest of the trip was at 75 to 80 mph for 300 mles. I'm still waiting for my Sirius tuner from Toyota, on hold till November or December. I had to do with my Sportsman Replay Sirus radio from my other car. It worked fine using the aux. imput. I had a very enjoyable trip back to San Diego listening to the best of Howard Stern for 6 hours. It seems my milage is going up about 2 mpg per tankful.

My highway commute is 24 miles. I consistently get >44 mpg using cruise control, traveling at 65 mph with no A/C.

Today I got 50 mpg because their was an accident and I got to use EV for several miles.

I'm not sure what the hit on mileage would be for 70 mph or if I were to use A/C.

So far my longest trip has been about 25 miles in the TCH. I can't wait until I have to take a long trip.

H20 doctor That is amazing milage .I just tested my HIHY at 70 mph and it was only 24.8 on a 25 mile both ways test (50 miles) . I get better hwy milage on my camry hybrid than I do in city -And the opposite on my highlander.

Hope everyone is using regular gas - 87 Octane. Anyone has experience using mid-grade (89) or premium (91) gas? Does it help with mileage?

Manual suggests using "87 (research octane 91)". What do they mean by "research octane 91"?

Octane listed on the pump is the AVERAGE of "Research" and "Motor" Octane ratings.
Just two different octane rating systems.
