Default Help with a noise coming from the seat...

Hi Folks,

I have started to have a problem with the driver's side seat where there is a pop kind of noise when I site back, it is in the middle of the seat (back) about 2/3 of the way up. I can reproduce it by using my hand. It sounds like a faulty spring. Has anyone had this problem or have a better idea of what it might be? Should I bother getting it looked at?

Thanks,
Mike

if it's in warranty, I would get it replaced.

A seat is not one part. It is an assembly of many parts. If one of those parts is broken, bent or out of adjustment, it might make a noise. They can disassemble the seat to find it, and then either adjust it, unbend it, or replace the part. Most dealers have someone who does upholstery, because they have to install leather kits.

A parts explosion is available at trademotion.com:

Just don't let the guy with greasy hands and overalls anywhere near your upholstery.

I spoke to a mechanic that replaced an out of warranty seat in a Nissan for almost $3ooo.oo (yes I'm serious) get it looked at by the dealer.

Hmmm, ok. Thanks for the advice guys. I hate my dealer's service department...but oh well. I'll bring it up when I go in for the AUX audio TSB. So far I have list of things that need to be looked at. All random noises that were not there in the past 1.5 years of ownership.

This noise is most certainly in the back (vertical) portion of the seat.
