Default Finally replaced my factory head unit...

After going through several adapters to make aftermarket head units work with the JBL amp I finally found the combination of items that works the best. I won't mention the items that didn't work for me (if you really want to know, PM me). Instead I'll just list out what I got and what works.

I ordered a JVC KW AVX830 from Crutchfield. Among several reasons for getting this unit, the detachable face is the primary one. I also ordered the PAC TATO JBL interface from them. This interface works perfectly with the factory JBL system. It has been perfect since the moment it was installed. I also wanted to retain my steering wheel controls, so I ordered the PAC SWI-JACK from them too. Programming this took a few tries, but I finally got it to work. I also added a pair of headrest monitors for my kids and plan to add a 2nd external DVD player so they can watch something else if I have something playing up front (for my passenger, of course! ). I'm pleased with this setup and happy that I found a good adapter to work with my JBL amp. My previous two adapters failed miserably to say the least! It took me two months to get to this point, so I want to share what actually works with everyone. If anyone cares for pics just post up. I'll take some and upload them here.

Yes please do. I am out of warranty now and my head unit is getting very flaky. I had id it replace under warranty in year 2 of ownership. It worked well for about a year but am experiencing the same problems I did with my previous unit.

Here are some camera phone pics...sorry for the poor quality...

The headrest monitors don't match the seats, but they match all of the trim in the car so I didn't mind the darker color. BTW, not sure if I mentioned this, but this is the METRA install kit. The one crutchfield sent didn't work. It wasn't tall enough to clear the head unit properly so the face could not flip out.
