Do any of you get annoyed at the voice command system being so chatty? You press the talk switch and you always have to wait for the "nice lady" to give you instructions before the beep; THEN you can speak. Is there a way to just have the thing beep when you press the talk switch so you can give your command immediately? Maybe somewhere in those secret menus there is a way to do this?
I find giving voice commands takes forever because I am doing more listening to instructions than giving commands.

 

There IS a way! And I agree, and I have turned Chatty OFF! Press the MENU button to the left of the NAV screen, then select SET-UP, then scroll to Voice Recognition Guidance..you can turn it on or off...At least from my memory, these are the steps.

 

Are you turning off the voice guidance by doing this? If so that is not what I am talking about.

I'm talking about when you press the voice command button on the steering wheel you hear instructions before you are allowed to issue your voice command.

I'm looking for a way to have the system just beep when you press the talk switch on the steering wheel and then you can issue your voice command.

 

No ..this only turns off the prompts for the voice recognition. These instructions are exactly what you are looking for. This will turn off the guidance for the voice recognition system. Not the NAV guidance.

Does anyone out there have any suggestion/remedy for those of us who don't have NAV?

I don't have a BT-enabled phone as yet (getting one soon)... so haven't been able to detect this "chatty voice" issue. That said, I'll likely have to deal with it in the near future.

I haven't turned her off, but she shuts up as soon as you press the Talk button and say what you want - You don't have to wait for her to finish or say anything at all.

For those of you who feel it is impolite to interrupt, or talk over others, you'll need to find that command setting

 

I've heard people ranting about how they have to go through the various voice menus to dial a number....

You all know that you can just press the Voice button on the right side of the steering wheel and say a name to dial, right?

1) Press the button.
2) Say: "Call My Home" (or whatever you programmed in)
3) Car repeats back name
4) Press off hook button

Saves some time going through the menus.

I don't know if it works with all the menu functions- I only use the dial by name mode.
