Assuming the outside air is actually warmer than your desired cabin temperature I think the opposite is true. Recirculate reduces a/c usage. No need to cool and dehumidify cabin air as much as outside air once the cabin air temp and humidity have been reduced.
Unless you mean you use outside (fresh) air and don't run the a/c at all.

That is what I am doing so far. I got the car in Oct, so the temps here have been ideal for no A/C driving. Once summer hits, I will be an A/C loving fool.

Anyone know if someone makes a charcoal based cabin filter to control odors as well as contaminaents?

That is what the Plasmacluster is for. It kills odors in the cabin.

I thought it was to clean the air, not necessarily deodorize it, well if it is suppoed to clean the odors it is failing miserably. If I have air set to take outside air I smell any car that is spewing any type of odor.

Then why does it not take the dead cow smell out of the car that a few on this list have complained about?

Yes I agree 100%, although we do not have any of the smell they talk about so I don't know if it is doing anything either!.

The New Car Features Guide gives the recommended change interval for the Clean Air Filter, and it's different for the USA and for Canada! I wonder why? Here are the relevant pages — see page BE-49.
