Default Carbon Fiber Hood

Would a Carbon Fiber Hood be much lighter than the stock hood? Will the increase in MPG be significant?

I was also thinking about putting a Cold Air Intake, and a free flow exhaust system.

What do you guys think?

I wouldn't mess with major aftermarket parts at this point, they are still under development. Unless you have that kind of $$$$ then the sky's the limit. K&N is currently developing a CAI for the 07 Camry right now but I dunno if it will compatible with the Hybrid.

I am always weary about CF hoods. In a front accident they likely will not bend in half as metal hoods are designed to do. They could shatter, sending sharp CF shards through the windshield and into the driver and passanger's body. A few pounds isn't worth it.

You will never make up the cost of the hood/getting it painted in fuel savings. Wouldn't do it if you goal is to save money.

The reason I was considering it for my HCH was because my stock hood was damaged, and it would be cheaper to just slap a CF hood on there, than to buy a new stock hood and have it painted. I decided against it because 1. I don't have the time to take real good care of it to keep it from fading, 2. I don't know how it would perform in an accident, and 3. I don't think it would really save enough weight to have an effect on MPGs (I've heard you'd have to loose 100 lbs before you'd see a difference... wheels are a different story).
