Beeping when turning car off.
Here's what I did this morning.
I parked the car and turned it off (I got an EXCELLENT!!!...yippee!)
I realized the car was a few feet too far out, so I opened the door and backed it up (with the door open) put it in park, turned it off (beeping) and closed the door (beeping).
Went back in, (door open) turned the car on and back off (still beeping), then I closed the door, turned it on and then off again, beeping stopped.
I know my actions weren't proper, but nonetheless, it shouldn't have beeped when I turned it off and closed the door.
Should it have? Is the car vindictive and punishing me for driving (three feet) with the door open? (I don't need a second wife!)

1. Opened the door got in the car.
2. Started car and drove a little bit.
3. Shifted to park and shut off the car.
4. Opened the door and realized I need to pull forward a little more.
5. Keeping the door open, started the car and shifted to drive.
- Beeping started.
6. Took foot off break and drove a few feet.
7. Shifted to park and turned the car off.
- Beeping stopped after shifting to park.
8. Exited the car.
So unless you did not shift back into park, there is something else going on.
In the above situation, the beeping stops as soon as I close the door. In all other cases the beeping terminates when I put it in park or close the door.
I couldn't recreate the beeping.
Must have done something else wrong

For the situation the OP is talking about, there are two types of noises.
One is a continuous beep/tone that sounds when you drive with the door open. At this point the MFD will say something like "Shift to P when Parked". I guess what they were trying to say is "Don't drive with the door opened".
The second set of beeps are very annoying and unnecessary. If you happen to turn off the car while the door is open, you will get a set of meaningless beeps and no MFD message. I have complained about these beeps in the past. There is no point to them and they stop after only a few seconds. These beeps have nothing to do with the fact that you moved the car with the door open. They occur any time you shut the car while the door is open.

The only thing I can see is if it wasn't in park.
