I used the forum "Search" feature and found several links... This one is pretty good and contains links to other threads:

Personally I will not be using a K&N in my TCH. My previous experience with K&N and other reusuable oiled air filters in other vehicles has not shown any measurable improvement in MPG, or HP measured on a dyno, over stock or aftermarket paper filters like Fram....

I looked at the K&N site and the part number you have is correct according to it...

I hope this helps..

I used to use one (similar to K&N), did not notice a difference other than a bunch of dirt in the housing that the filter should have caught. I no longer use it.

There are many good threads on the subject.

I have a K&N in my 2008. I haven't noticed any "extra" dirt in my air housing. Have had it in for 5000 miles. May be dustier in other areas causing extra dust others are talking about? Being able to clean and reuse the filter was a plus and I have used them in several of my vehicles without adverse effects.

It's your decision.

You don't want a K+N on a car you want the engine to last in. They flow lots of air and dirt thru the engine as was posted above. We use them on our grass drag snowmobiles and the intakes are loaded with grit. They only filter very large items like small kids. Don't do it for your Camry!

Check out this link: http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/airfilter/airtest1.htm

I have posted it before and it is what changed my mind and caused me to switch back to a standard "paper" filter.

No need for the more expensive k&n air filter. It suppose to give more horsepower. How many of us drive trying for full throttle.

My goal is to try to use the best filters to keep the engine's cylinders and valves clean as possible. The oem products from toyota will do that.

Denso and purolator filters are probably manfactured for Toyota. Both companies advertise the 3 layer air filter. Here denso shows the details.
