I am 25 and living in DC I needed a hybrid but couldn't stand the look of the Prius but couldn't stand going outside of Toyota for a hybrid as their synergy drive is the best hybrid technology.

Gee, you guys make me feel old. I'm only 67 years old and try think rather youthful. I'm excited that our new white TCH will arrive this week at the dealer. I love gas mileage and one test drive was all it took. I would say once a toyota owner, always a toyota owner.

I drifted off after owning a 2003 Corolla. Being older, the lighter car and stiffer suspension bothered me on trips. I bought the fullsize 2006 Ford 500. A nice riding low priced car at about $22K. It did have some wind noise when going over 60, and it came with low priced Continental tires.

My main issue with Ford was having to take it back 4 times and it being a new car. They has some TSB's come out for the transmission and rear brakes, etc. A friend of mine that has that same car in a wagon is still having brake problems after the TSB at 15,000 miles.

I thought I would never get Ford Service to activate my daylight running lights. I had to take them the instructions I found on the internet. They did not know your supposed to have the car in neutral for the activation. At least they did not charge me.

If I leave the air conditioner button on overnight. The next day I would start the engine, then a loud klunk sound when the AC compressor kicks in. I hated that sound and took it to Ford twice. They claimed other new cars like mine also does that. I then said, the two toyotas I owned never did that, nor does my wifes '99 Ranger pickup. They just give me a strange look and said nothing. It's like I bought the car, now live with it.

While im unloading, also there service people did not seem very friendly. I heard this from others in the Ford forums. Not so with toyota. I have spoke with tthere service people over the phone and in person and they seem to be ready to help you any way they can. I also know our toyota technician here in town. He is the one that put me on toyota's in the first place. He tells me little things like Toyota uses low friction rings and other internal parts to lower friction and increase the gas mileage. How toyota's variable cam works hydraulically.

Well i'm very glad to come back to Toyota. I do know that toyota has long lasting brakes. My '94 Corolla brakes lasted 105,000 miles. I will admit, I do lots of coasting to improve my gas mileage. Oh, my wife is 4 years younger than me. That should make her 63.

I saw the wife looking at the new RAV4's and a few small Toyota pickups. I hope she wants one, just say the word.

With toyota going hybrid on near all there models in the next so many years. How could I ever leave a company like that.

Larry's still 49 for a few more weeks and I am 48. I wondered if I was "old enough for the Grandma car" but figured the Barcelona Red more than countered that attitude! I wasn't intending to get the TCH cuz I had a perfectly good working 91 Previa up until I got sideswiped on April 24. While I have had TSX/TLs as rentals, I knew that I loved the power but not at the price of gasoline in the SFBay Area. After the accident, I had the Prius as my first choice until I realized that the lack of lumbar support would not work for me. The salesman asked if I had tried the TCH. Just sitting in it made my back happy and the rest is herstory! And I definitely enjoy getting significantly more than the 15 mpg my Previa was getting!

I'm 57 with 3800 miles on my TCH and I love it. My wife and I have owned only Toyotas for 27 years. We always look at the Fords and GMs and all but end up with Toyotas every time we buy new. And this new Camry is like from another planet - fun, quiet, strong, smooth. Today we did errands around town in her '06 Corolla - a zippy little car with mileage like the TCH, perfectly practical and tough feeling - not so quiet, smooth, etc., but another car anyone could live with for a long time.

We'll have both of these cars for another decade or so - why not? We owned our previous Toyotas for 17 years each, and their new owners, still friends by the way, tell us they're great little cars. And they are! But 200,000 miles in any car gets you contemplating a change ....

I'm 26, and traded in my '99 GMC Sierra for my TCH. My ex-girlfriend didn't like my car when I took it to show her, in fact she had absolutely nothing good to say about it, she was pissed because I got rid of my truck. The problem I had was, it was getting too expensive to drive down to see her, I went from $80/wk in fuel to $180/wk when we started going out. I just couldn't afford it.

The biggest reason why I got my car was I was tired of paying gobs of money at the pumps for a 7 year old truck, when I didn't use the truck for what it was designed for but once or twice a year.

In my car I also finally feel like I am going somewhere in life too.

Wow, this thread is still going huh?

Ok, I'll bring it down a little. I'm 30 and my wife is also 30. We were both 29 when we purchased out TCH last October. Grandma's car my ***, this is a fun car and is very practical. My wife drives a lot and I wanted something that was efficient AND comfortable. The Camry fits the bill. No regrets. Just need to get the crickets in the center console taken out!

53 - you're never to old. or young, to get a kick out of driving the TCH. Mates quite nicely with my MINI.
