But you could technically drive just about any car in a pulse/glide technique and get above normal MPG out of it.

The Hybrid should be built in a way that takes all this over thinking out of driving WHILE STILL giving you better MPG than a non hybrid would.

My wife has already told me she likes the car, but is glad I'm the one that is driving it, because she wouldn't have the patience to want to apply the different techniques in order to maximize MPG. She just wants to get in it and go.

of course. c/p i posted comes from a much larger post where person actually applied it ti a Saturn. he claimed he had much better average mpg as a result, though i am quite uncertain about his evaluations. matter of fact, ANY evaluations of this nature can be done only after a very long period of time, at least year, better 2 yeras, of continuous monitoring, to avoid 10%ile statistical variance due to weather, traffic, gas quality, etc, etc.
ideally, yes, that's why i keep telling - use cruise and allow powertrain management software to run her as much as possible. also, it proves that no matter how advanced, anything that is designed by humans and for humans, will not be better than a human itself.
