Cool 3m Protection and tint

Hi All Waiting on my TCH should be here in the next few days
I am looking at the 3M Clear kit from XPEL www.xpel.com which will cover the front bumper grill hood mirrors and back bumper.

Does anyone have this? It looks good on paper.
Quote I have Kit installed and tint is $1074. but I think the repaint of the car would be alot more down the line. Here is the breakdown
P0130L 2007-2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid Paint Kit $269.95 $269.95
H0130B 2007-2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid Headlight Kit $69.95 $69.95
P0130Q 2007-2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid Paint Kit $79.95 $79.95
P0130S 2007-2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid Paint Kit $379.95 $379.95

The dealer does not install it anymore so the quote is from a authorized XPEL installer.

Any thoughts on this stuff would be appreciated.

Anyone use the aftermarket floor mats and trunk. Any suggestions there?

Thanks Joe

I would suggest it, as I wish I had gotten it. I have three or more rock chips in the 6000 miles I have driven the car, but most important, I have a ding in the front bumper where a runaway shopping cart hit it. I think with the extra protection from the 3M product it would not have done as much damage.

Now I have to decide if I want to get the front bumper repainted because of a small ding. I think I might wait till the paint starts peeling in that area.

I was looking into removing the bumper for the purposes of putting my 3M film on it and it seems like you might be able to remove it and push out the dent from the back. If it's pretty much all plastic and can be removed as easily as the service manual indicates, it should be possible.

I paid about $200 for two sheets of 3M film. One big enough to cover the entire hood and another to cover the entire bumper. I'm waiting for warm weather and some free time before embarking on that project.

Actually, if I remove the bumper and bring it inside, warm weather isn't an issue but the hood looks like it might be troublesome to remove and to align correctly when reinstalling it.

To reinstall hoods witout worring about the alignment, use a marker to trace the hood latch location on the hood. The other method is to use a small drill bit like 1/16" and drill a small hole thru the hing into the bottom portion of the hood for each hinge, then when reinstalling use the drill bit as an alignment dowel. I don't really like that method as it exposes bare metal that could rust.

Don't go through the car dealer for this. They take a cut and the price you pay is around 40% higher than if you get it from a private installer.

It's unbelievable that they can look you in the face any quote you such high prices. My dealer wanted to charge $600.00 for the spoiler and also told me that the remote start is not able to be added. TINT WAS $400.00 They don't seem to be able to do the 3m protectant anymore. Must have been burned by hard to insatll costs. These are the people I am reliying on to keep my hitech car running
