In 3 years -- Honda will have a 'H' car -- we are screwed

As another poster said, Hydrogen is currently being produced from oil and natural gas.
Also there is no infrastructure (filling stations) to support it.
It’s going to be a long time before its practical.

I'm sure that 3 or 5 years from now there may technology that will make our TCH look like the Model T. Heck, we need to start somewhere.
If we all are going to wait for the great invention we would still be walking or riding a dinasour.
For those of us who are till young enough to benefit from techological advances 10 years from now great. I hope to be around then and maybe still be driving my TCH knowing that I, or we, were on the cutting edge in 2006.

Reality check: The hybridphobia out there is well-documented here and all over the net. Even hydrogen-powered ICE vehicles are a big leap, needing infrastructure that does not yet exist - more so for fuel cell vehicles. Anyone suggesting when hydrogen vehicles enter the market, they will sell like iPods? I don't see the hybrid days being numbered....
Frankly, there may be more to Honda's purported breakthrough in ethanol conversion than in this hydrogen story. See http://news.com.com/Biomass+ethanol+...3-6115658.html for details. Of course, I don't see any one thing as "the answer". I am encouraged by everything being explored that lets us drastically reduce our dependence on (foreign) oil. So long as gas remains close to $3 per gallon in the U.S., alternatives research will thrive. I'm just hoping OPEC and Big Oil keep screwing us with high prices and their record profits long enough to motivate us to make a real change!
I believe my comments were from Glen Beck the other night. The way (H) was explained it sounded like the best way to go. Using Ethanol (Corn), we still needed OIL for this type of fuel and was put down by Mr. Beck.
